The short version
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics.
- Gulliver (the gull that guesses) and the lifeguard (the safety check) run on your device. Your drawings are never sent to AI services.
- When you play online, your drawings go to the other players in your match, through Apple's Game Center. We don't store them.
- We only receive a drawing when someone reports it, or when the lifeguard stops it.

We never use drawings from players under 18 to train anything. Drawings stopped by the lifeguard on the device of a player under 18 aren't sent to us at all. Reports about any player are sent, because we need them to protect players.
Illegal content. Sexual images of children, drawn or not, are deleted right away and reported to the police or Child Focus. We keep only the fact that it happened and the ban.
Shared doodles (optional)
After your first online round, Gulliver may ask: "Help me get smarter? Share your doodles anonymously." This is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. If you share:
- we receive your own drawings from online rounds that another player guessed, with the word, the language, Gulliver's guesses, the outcome and the app version;
- we don't receive your Game Center ID, your name, other players' guesses, a device ID or your location. A random donor code on your device lets you delete your doodles later (Settings → Delete my doodles), also by mail to support@squawkle.com if you lost your device;
- iCloud stores which anonymous iCloud user added a doodle, so that only you can delete it. We can't see who that is;
- without an iCloud account, a doodle waits on your device for at most a week, then it's deleted;
- turning it off stops sending at once, including doodles still waiting on your device;
- we never ask players under 18, and nothing is collected from them.
This website
squawkle.com uses no cookies, no analytics and nothing from other websites (no fonts, scripts or videos from elsewhere). To deliver the site and protect it against attacks, Cloudflare (our network provider) and the web server that hosts the site briefly process technical data, such as your IP address, the page you ask for and your type of browser (legitimate interest: a working, secure website). The web server doesn't keep IP addresses in its logs.
Where data is stored
Reports, stopped drawings, bans and shared doodles are stored in Apple's CloudKit (iCloud), which Apple runs for us. Your block list is stored in your own iCloud key-value storage. Online matches go through Apple's Game Center. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles this. We don't sell or share data with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, to correct or delete it, or to restrict or object to how we use it. You can withdraw consent (shared doodles) at any time. Write to support@squawkle.com. Because we don't have accounts, we may ask for your Game Center nickname to find what belongs to you. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, https://www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
Children
Squawkle respects Game Center's settings for children: if multiplayer is restricted, online play stays off, and players under 18 only play online with their Game Center friends.

If we change this policy, we update the date above. Big changes are shown in the app.
