Shells are the little coins of the beach. You earn them for free with the daily challenges and achievements, and spend them in the crab closet on hats, shell patterns, inks and sand colours. You can also buy shells. That's only a shortcut: everything in the closet can be earned for free.
What shells are
- Only for looks. Shells never change your score, the time you get, hints, how Gulliver plays or the lifeguard. There are no loot boxes and no chance: you always see what you get.
- They never expire. We can't take away shells you earned or bought, and we don't change what a shell is worth.
- No cash value. You can't sell shells, give them to another player or turn them back into money.
- One coin. There is only one kind of shell. No gems, tickets or exchanges.
What costs what
Every item in the closet costs exactly 150, 400, 900 or 2000 shells, and the closet shows what that is in real money, at the price without volume discount (the price of the smallest pack, per shell).
| Pack | Shells | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 150 | €0.99 |
| Medium | 400 | €2.49 |
| Large | 900 | €4.99 |
| Extra large | 2000 | €9.99 |
Prices are the ones in the App Store for your country; the table shows the euro prices. A bigger pack costs less per shell, and the shop shows that in plain numbers (price per 100 shells). Packs are the same size as the item prices, so you can buy exactly what you need.
Besides packs there is a one-time Supporter pack (€4.99: a supporter beret, a Supporter badge, two more app icons and 400 shells).
How buying works
- Buying shells is only possible in the crab closet, never in the middle of a game. First we show you what you get and what it costs, then Apple asks you to confirm.
- You pay with your Apple account, and the shells arrive right away. Purchases may need approval from the manager of your Apple account (Ask to Buy and Screen Time work as usual).
- Buying an item with shells asks you once more to confirm that you want it right away.
- Your shells are saved in your own iCloud with the rest of your closet, and move along to your other devices. Turn iCloud on, or you lose them with the device: Apple can't give bought shells back after a reinstall. The Supporter pack can be restored with Restore purchases.
Changed your mind?
Apple handles payments and refunds. Within 14 days you can ask Apple for your money back through reportaproblem.apple.com for shells you haven't spent. If Apple pays you back, the shells leave your closet; items you already bought with them stay yours. Your legal rights as a consumer don't change.
Who sells this
Squawkle is made and sold by Segers - De Schuijmer, Belgium, enterprise number BE 1004.768.956. Our business details are on our App Store page. Questions, or something doesn't work as described? Write to support@squawkle.com. We answer within a few working days.
Children
Squawkle is played by children too, so we keep shells friendly: no countdowns, no "only today", no special offers, no buying prompts in the game, and we never ask children to buy anything or to ask their parents. Parents can limit or block purchases for a child with Apple's Screen Time and Family Sharing settings.
